Empty Shops Eyesore No More

July 13, 2010

For more than five years the strip of shops from 443-457 Hawthorn Road in Caulfield South has remained derelict. Since 2001 Perfect Builders have been a tussle with VCAT, Glen Eira Council and locals to build a five storey development. The disagreement has gone on for so long that the site itself has become much of an eyesore.

There has finally been agreement, and 42 apartments will be constructed, with a retail element involved on the ground floor. This is a relief for local shop holders, as they have been concerned that the sites’s dereliction has discouraged clients from visiting their businesses.
